Crow's & Magpie
Larsen traps can be used throughout the year, by authorised persons (as defined under open general licence page 33) according to the terms of the open general licence, but are most effective in spring and summer. They use a live decoy or call-bird placed in a self-contained section of the trap. Under the terms of the licence the call bird must be supplied with adequate food and water, a perch and suitable shade. It must also be checked at least once a day, as soon after dawn as possible. The trap contains catching compartments, which will contain a bird until it is humanely dispatched. They are mainly used for magpies and crows. Non target species released unharmed.
